Kathryn Bryk Friedman is special counsel to Magavern Magavern Grimm LLP. She practices in the areas of cross border law, litigation and appellate practice.

Dr. Friedman has extensive qualifications and background in law and public policy, with special expertise in cross border issues, immigration, trade, and governance reform. She is a frequent speaker to regional and national audiences on US-Canadian cross border issues.

She served as a Vice Chair of the International Law and Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association and as a member of the Western New York Citizen Review Panel. She currently is a board member at the Buffalo and Erie County Legal Aid Society. Dr. Friedman also serves as Deputy Director of the Regional Institute at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Friedman served as Confidential Law Clerk to Hon. Eugene F. Pigott, Jr., Presiding Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department. Prior to that, she served as Confidential Law Clerk to Hon. Richard C. Wesley, Associate Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals.

Dr. Friedman graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Buffalo Law Review. Before attending law school, she earned a Ph.D. in Political Science, with concentrations in international relations and comparative political economy, at UB. She is admitted to practice before all New York State Courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Court of International Trade, and the United States Supreme Court.
